A good meal and a friendly face can change a person’s day. Every day, Meals on Wheels volunteers deliver just that.

Carefor/Nor-Dun Seniors’ Support Centre in Winchester is participating in the March for Meals campaign this month, to highlight the importance of the essential meal delivery program. Nor-Dun delivers healthy meals three times per week to local residents. Meals on Wheels also brings peace of mind by providing a friendly visit and wellness check.

Every March, Carefor celebrates March for Meals to raise awareness about the essential meal delivery program. Meals on Wheels has delivered over 34,000 meals to residents of North Dundas, Stormont and Glengarry this past year.

“Meals on Wheels is a wonderful program that makes a huge difference for people within our community,” notes North Dundas Mayor Tony Fraser, who took part in delivering meals during the campaign’s Community Champion Week.

Mayor Fraser joined long-time Meals on Wheels volunteers, Gerry and Albert, as they delivered meals to people in Mountain, South Mountain and Winchester Springs on Wednesday, March 23.

Freida, one of the recipients of Meals on Wheels, says the food is always good and the program makes life a little easier.

Carefor relies on community support to continue its mission of delivering affordable, nutritious meals to seniors and adults in need. You can make an impact by spreading the word about Meals on Wheels, volunteering for the program or donating to Carefor Eastern Counties Meal Delivery Program.
