If you’re interested in becoming a candidate in the 2026 Municipal Election, the nomination process is straightforward and municipal staff are here to help you along the way.
To get started, you’ll need to complete a Nomination Form (Form 1), which is available from your local Municipal Clerk’s Office. The form must be signed by the candidate and submitted in person or by an appointed agent during regular business hours, Monday to Friday, beginning May 1, 2026.
Nominations will be accepted from May 1, 2026, up until 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 21, 2026 (Nomination Day).
Your completed Form 1 must be submitted together with an Endorsement of Nomination Form (Form 2). This form requires the signatures of at least 25 eligible voters from within the municipality. A filing fee is also required: $200 for Head of Council positions and $100 for all other offices. Payment may be made by cash, debit, certified cheque, or money order. Candidates must also provide proof of identity and residence, as required by provincial regulation.
If your circumstances change, the deadline to withdraw a nomination is Aug. 21, 2026, before 2 p.m.
For questions or help with the process, contact the Municipal Clerk’s Office—they’re happy to assist. Please call 613-774-2105, ext. 226 or 235.
