The EOHU advises that there are everyday actions that can help prevent the spread of germs that cause respiratory illnesses like COVID-19. Take these everyday steps to reduce exposure to the virus and protect your health:
- Frequently wash your hands with soap and water, or use hand sanitizer
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth unless you have just washed your hands
- Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your arm, not your hand
- Stay home if you are sick
- Avoid non-essential international travel and if you plan to travel, you should consult the Government of Canada’s website, Coronavirus disease (COVID-19): Travel advice for destination-specific health notices and recommended precautions.
