The
drainage department is responsible for the maintenance of all
municipal drains and the processing of tile drainage loan
applications. Entrance permits and assigning civic numbers are
also done by the drainage department.
Municipal Drain Maintenance
All
drain maintenance requests should be submitted to the drainage
superintendent by February 15th in each year. This
deadline is required to meet the funding application deadline
for the 1/3 grant from the Province.
Tile Drainage Loans
The
Township of North Dundas offers tile drainage loans to qualified
applicants. To qualify for a tile drainage loan:
1)
You must be an active farmer.
2)
Amount of loan request cannot exceed 75% of the total cost of the
project, up to a maximum of $20,000.
3) All
work must be carried out in accordance with the Agricultural Tile
Drainage Installation Act.
Should the applicant be granted a loan, the Drainage
Superintendent must report to council that all work has been
satisfactorily completed before any funds are advanced by way of
loan.
Council shall levy and collect for the term of ten years, over and
above all other rates upon the land in respect of which the loan
is made, a special equal annual rate sufficient to discharge the
principal and interest of the loan.

Entranceways
Entranceways are described as driveways, lanes, private roads, or
other constructed means of access to the township road, which
includes tiling, covering or filling in the roadside ditch to
improve a lawn or other frontage.
A
permit is require to ensure that maximum safety is maintained, the
flow of traffic is not inhibited, that municipal by-laws are
followed and to reduce possible interference with the road or
create road maintenance problems.
The
Township must receive a completed application form and the fee of
$100.00 dollars before a permit can be issued.

Civic Numbers
To
obtain a civic number, residents must submit an application along
with a $35.00 fee to the Township of North Dundas. Once the
application and the fee are received a civic number will be
issued.
