Policy No. 002-2003 POLICY STATEMENT: The Temporary Tent Permit Policy outlines three categories which address specific requirements depending upon the nature of a proposed tent. A. TENTS THAT ARE NOT COVERED UNDER THE ONTARIO BUILDING CODE Tents that do not require a permit include:
B. TENTS NOT REQUIRING A BUILDING PERMIT Tents assembled in the following format would not require a formal review under the Ontario Building Code (OBC), or require further inspections by the department, and thus a Building Permit will not be necessary. However, the person responsible for the Tent must still complete a temporary tent permit application (free of charge) and conform to subsection 3.14.1.6 of the 2006 OBC (NFPA 701 flame resistant fabric) and any zoning regulations of the Township:
C. TENTS REQUIRING A BUILDING PERMIT Tents requiring a Building Permit, at the minimum permit fee established by By-law, are as follows:
When applying for a permit of this nature, the applicant must provide a fully dimensioned site plan, appropriate engineering for guy wire and post distribution for large tents, certification of fire retardant, internal layout plans, and any other approvals as dependant on the use of the structure.
