Guest lecturer, Dr. John C. Walsh, from the Department of History at Carleton University will talk about "Placing Memory and Remembering Place: Homecoming Festivals in the Ottawa Valley, 1890-1955". He is co-author of Placing Memory and Remembering Place, the latest book written by himself and colleague James Opp. Dr. Walsh will talk about the community involvement and memories. Those who remember stories from the 1934 Winchester Old Home Reunion are encouraged to participate in discussion. The surrounding communities are invited to listen and to ask Dr.Walsh a variety of rural history questions during the conversation period. Ontario Family Fishing Week: Celebrate National Fishing week and enjoy fishing licence-free during this week. The purpose of this long-awaited event is to encourage more Canadians to experience the excitement and the many benefits of recreational fishing. Fishing is one of the easiest and most affordable ways for families to come together in a meaningful way. It is also one of the finest teaching tools we have to help youngsters and adults acquire a solid appreciation of our outdoor environment and all of the creatures who rely so heavily on us to use these resources wisely.

Do you have a summer building project in mind but you don't know where to start? Maybe you're planning to build a home or start a renovation, but you're not sure of where or how to get started? Perhaps you have heard about changes to the Building Code and to the process for obtaining a Building Permit and would like to consult a professional. The Township of North Dundas' Building Department will be hosting two Open House & Information Nights with a brief presentation. Two Building Inspectors as well as an Architectural Graduate will be on site to answer your questions and get you started on the right foot. Feel free to drop-in between 7 & 9 pm to share ideas with our knowledgeable staff, ask questions or simply listen to the informative presentation. The seminar will be approximately 30 minutes in length and is scheduled to begin at 7:15 pm. Light refreshments provided.
All Contractors, Designers and DIY are welcome. Fall sessions will be offered for those who are planning to begin a project in 2012. For information on upcoming Building Permit Information Night & Open Houses call the Township Office Building Dept.

English Country Dancing Workshop, 1pm - 4 pm - Sunday April 17th and Sunday May 29th at Chesterville Community Centre, 1 Mill Street Chesterville Ontario. Instructor: Nigel Kilby. $10.00 per workshop per person, pre-registration required. For more information and to register, contact Township of North Dundas 613-774-2105. Registration should be done before April 14th for the first session and May 21st for the second. Come out and learn the steps to dance similar to those seen in the days of Pride & Prejudice and the Regency period. Be sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes that will slide.
